Why do we see a lot of mosquitoes after a heavy rainfall?
Aedes mosquitos can lay many eggs around a yard that can remain dormant for many months while waiting for water. Once the rains come, you can get a blooming effect in that many of the dormant eggs will hatch and lead to biting adults. The Mosquito Stations can control this population increase, however because of its delayed effect, it may take a couple of weeks to regain a reduction in the population. A one-time Mosquito spraying may be needed which we offer at no additional charge for customer under a Mosquito Service Agreement
Will a lot of rain reduce efficacy?
Rain will not reduce efficacy. The Mosquito Station is designed not to over fill, because of the over flow spigot. Therefore not allowing the station to lose it's interior treated surface areas.
How come I still see mosquitoes?
Besides the delayed effect of the Mosquito Defense Stations, there may be mosquitoes that fly into the control zone from other areas. This is especially true of Aedes mosquitoes, which can travel over 200 yards to find a blood meal and breeding place. If they enter the station, they will die within days.
I have dogs. Does it need to be anchored?
We install the Mosquito Stations using a ground stake that prevents the unit from tipping over.
Can the product be used indoors?
Yes. But typically the Mosquito Stations are placed outdoors for optimum results. Interior use would be recommended in locations like a garage or an enclosed patio. Additionally, the Aedes mosquito will most likely not often seek for breeding sites indoors. Since there are less standing water sources available and the environment is often cooler due to air conditioning.
Will Active Ingredients in the stations affect non-target insects, pets or people?
The active ingredients in our Stations are not toxic to birds or mammals.
What about fish such as in Coy ponds?
The growth regulator portion of the active ingredients can be toxic to fish in high doses. However, it is almost impossible to have mosquitoes transfer enough product to a typical pond to harm fish such as coy. The only way such an exposure could happen is if the contents the entire bucket were to be emptied in the pond. Even then, the harm to fish is remote.
Will it get into ponds/lakes?
If by any chance, water or runoff from the Mosquito Defense Station were to end in a pond or lake, the active ingredients will not cause any effect on the local wildlife or flora.
How Long will it take to Start seeing results?
The stations will start working immediately, but will reach their peak performance within a couple of weeks as the water becomes more attractive to the mosquitoes. This is why we DO NOT want to empty the stations, just add water as needed. In addition to the Mosquito Stations, we perform an initial Mosquito Spraying. Our Defense system has an on-going Mosquito spraying every three months, to insure control, along with additional spraying as needed.
can I buy thESE MOSQUITO Stations?
The Mosquito Stations (Inzecto) are available to purchase for Do It Yourselfers at Pest Solutions Store in Slidell. They sell them for $24.99 a unit. We have designed our Mosquito Defense System utilizing these stations in conjunction with a Mosquito Spraying program. This is the Ultimate way to control Mosquitoes.
DO the stations Trap the Mosquitoes?
No, this system does not trap mosquitoes. It acts as a dissemination unit. Mosquitoes will lay their eggs inside the water-filled units. The eggs will come in contact with the larvicide that will prevent them from becoming adult mosquitoes. The mosquitoes that fly into the station and land on the interior surfaces of the station will come in contact to the adulticide and die shortly thereafter.
How OFTEN do the STAtIONs need to be checked/MAINTAINED?
The stations work effectively for approximately 90 days. We replace the stations on a quarterly basis and perform a Mosquito spraying at the same time. The stations must maintain water within them to stay effective and work properly. Therefore we recommend that you inspect the water levels and top off the units with water monthly, to insure the best results. One important note: DO NOT EMPTY the station of the existing water, just add more.
Will a sprinkler system Affect the stations?
Generally, sprinklers are not an issue as it aids in keeping the Stations at the recommended water level. However, sprinklers pointed directly at the trap (almost horizontal spray) is not advised. Vertical rainfall/sprinkler water entry into the station is not an issue.
